Lunch - Chess Club (gr 1-7)
- When: Wednesdays Lunch hours
- Dates: Jan 8th – Mar 12
- Location: Cleveland library
- Cost: $100 e-transfer to chan_james17@hotmail.com include name and grade
You are invited to explore the strategic world of chess at this exclusive chess club. This club includes fundamentals for beginners along with strategies for the more advanced players. Chess Club players will have the opportunity to improve their skills by playing against other player of various levels.
This class accepts beginners and experienced players alike from ages 6-11
Lunchtime Circus Workshop

The Vancouver Circus School is excited to offer engaging circus workshops for Cleveland Elementary students, fostering physical literacy through fun and skill-building activities. Held on Thursdays during lunch, these sessions focus on balance, coordination, and creative expression using props such as juggling balls, flowersticks, spinning plates, and balance equipment. Students will develop confidence, focus, and motor skills in a dynamic and supportive environment that encourages exploration and movement.

Lunch Grit @ Cleveland (gr 3-5)

- Cost: $130 (scholarships available)
Lunch Grit is a 6-week workshop held at lunch. In it, we un-pack how to be a happier human at school. We find tools for finding calm in stressful situations, we navigate our way through the landmine of tricky friendships, we deal with the pressure of expectations, we laugh – we create – we move our bodies – we brain-train. Sportball | Multisport (Grades K-3; 5-9 year olds)
- When: Thursdays 2:50-3:50
- Dates: Jan 23 – Mar 13 (8 weeks)
- Location: Cleveland Small Gym
- Cost: $144 plus GST
Sportball’s Multisport classes focus on the basic skills common to all sports, like balance, coordination, and timing in a fun, supportive, non-competitive environment. Each class focuses on one of eight different sports: hockey, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis.
Registration will open on Mon, December 16th at 9:30 am
Anyone who clicks the link before then will be able to see the program and join a “waitlist”. This “waitlist” doesn’t reserve them a spot in the program, but our team will send anyone on the “waitlist” an email about when registration opens closer to the date.
Jr. Skills Basketball - Gr. 2-4
- When: Fridays 2:50 – 3:50 pm
- Dates: Jan 10 – Mar 14 (no session Feb 14)

- Cost: $145+GST
North Shore Basketball Academy Coaches will teach participants skills and concepts required to have a solid foundation in the game of basketball. Sessions will progressively take participants through a series of fun drills and games that work on fundamentals like dribbling, passing and shooting along with daily games and competitions. Throughout the program, participants will learn about core life-skills like positivity, sportsmanship and teamwork. Each participant receives an NSBA T-Shirt.
Artmania: Folktale Fusion: A Creative Art Adventure Around The World K-7

Embark on a creative 10-week journey through Folktales and Folk Art, designed for young
artists! In this engaging class, students will explore traditional folk tales from around the
world and create art inspired by these stories. Each week, they’ll dive into projects such as
colorful Carp Streamers from Japan, Inuit multimedia paintings, Russian nesting dolls, and
more. Through storytelling and hands-on activities, students will develop artistic techniques,
enhance their fine motor skills, and gain an appreciation for diverse cultures and art forms.
Perfect for kids who love stories and expressing themselves through art!

Artmania: Claymation Adventures (1-7)

Join our After-School Claymation Class at Cleveland on Fridays ! Led by educators,
animators and filmmakers, students will learn stop-motion animation techniques, sculpting,
and storytelling. Create clay characters, build sets, and bring ideas to life in a fun, hands-on
environment. Perfect for aspiring animators and young creative minds!

Farsi Afterschool Program - فارسی در مدرسه (gr K-7)
- When: Tuesday 3:00 – 5 pm
- Dates: Jan 21-Mar 11, Early dismissal March 11 class will be held 2-4pm in the small gym

- COST: $270 for 8 sessions (or two instalments of $150)
The Farsi afterschool program program is aligned with the official Farsi curriculum of British Columbia, emphasizing core skills like reading and writing. What sets us apart is our commitment to making learning enjoyable. Through arts, music, and hands-on crafts, we create an interactive and engaging environment where students can have fun while mastering Farsi. LIGHTS UP MUSICAL THEATRE AFTERSCHOOL AT CLEVELAND ELEMENTARY (All Grades)

Sing Dance Act Shine! At Lights Up Afterschool, your child can experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our afterschool programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools staff. These classes are a unique introduction to our weekend musical theatre programs and provide students with an enriching, rewarding, and most of all, fun afterschool activity right at the bell!
WINTER SHOW! INSIDE OUT!
This Winter, we will be putting on a musical created specifically for our afterschool students! Inspired by the movies of the same name, students will sing, dance, and act their hearts out as they join Riley on a journey through her emotions!
Students are supervised from the bell. No need to pick up your child until 5pm! Performance for parents on the last day of classes!

Come explore the power of strategic thinking through fun, engaging, hands-on and strategy-based board games and card games. Through guided gameplay, children will gain confidence, learn to navigate wins and losses and develop long-term strategic mindsets. Enroll your child in this screen-free class that focuses entirely on in-person games that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. In this adventure, students will learn the importance of planning, making thoughtful choices and understanding the reasons behind their decisions while playing games and having fun.

Anti-Bullying Jiu-Jitsu Training for Kids (K-7)

Our anti-bullying Jiu-Jitsu program takes a holistic approach to children’s personal development by combining Jiu Jitsu and physical fitness with mental discipline, self-esteem, community building, and critical thinking. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is also a fantastic way to teach coordination, gross and fine motor skills, balance, pattern recognition, and strategy. Students will learn how to defend themselves against bullying without using strikes; focusing on Jiu Jitsu techniques that allow them to control and neutralize their opponent while promoting confidence, problem-solving skills, non-violent conflict resolution, and allyship.

Fall-Little Brains-Robotics Engineering Lv 1 & 2

- Cost: $353.80
The little brains will discover what is behind a robot, the design
possibilities, the materials, mechanical simple machines used to build,
what software is, and the programming languages used to create the robot
instructions. Under the STEM Education programs, the leadership of our
instructors and assistants, students use the VEX 123 hardware and GUI
programming languages on computers to build their robotic animals,
machines, and toys. They will code the algorithms to make their robots
function and innovate by improving their programs or physical robot
design.
