There are a variety of fantastic programs the CPAC organizes for the Cleveland families, for students and parents, from learning to lunches to lunges. Take a look at some of the things happening at Cleveland, and be sure to check back as there’s always something new in the pipeline.

Sportball | Multisport (Grades K-3)

  • When: Mondays 2:50-3:50
  • Dates: April 17 – June 12 (No session May 8 & 22)
  • Location: Cleveland Small Gym
  • Cost: $126 +GST  (7 sessions)

All of our classes are Coached with Purpose using Sportball Methodology. All games, activities and instructions have a purpose and expected outcome. Our goal is to build your child’s confidence, competence, and Physical Literacy. Our programs target three key areas of childhood development, helping them build skills for life!

Children learn the fundamentals of eight different sports in a fun, stress-free, non-competitive setting. Multi-Sport classes keep children moving and engaged and send them home with a new skill from a different sport each class. If you’re looking for a way to give your child a well-rounded sports-base, that promotes their independence and leaves room for specialization later, look no further.

Sportball | Indoor Soccer (K - Gr 3)

  • When: Thursdays 2:50-3:50
  • Dates: April 20 – June 15
  • Location: Cleveland Small Gym

Sportball Indoor Soccer classes introduce fundamental concepts of gameplay and teaches the basic skills required to hit the field with confidence in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Coaches zero in on skills like throw-ins, dribbling, trapping and passing in fun, exciting, skill-focused play.

Jr. Skills Basketball - Gr. 2-4

  • When: Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Dates: April 4 – June 6
  • Location: Cleveland Big Gym
  • Cost: $150 T-Shirt included  (10 sessions)

Participants will develop the essential skills and concepts required to have a solid foundation in the game of basketball. Sessions will progressively take participants through a series of fun drills and games that work on physical literacy and fundamentals like dribbling, passing and shooting. Throughout the program, participants will learn about core life-skills like positivity, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, respect, health and fitness. Each participant receives an NSBA T-Shirt.

Basketball | Skills & Games - Gr. 5-7

  • When: Fridays 2:50-3:50pm
  • Dates: March 31 – June 2
  • Location: Cleveland Big Gym
  • Cost: $150 T-Shirt Included (10 sessions)

Participants will work on improving their skills for basketball (ball-handling, shooting, passing and defence) through daily skill development and games. Throughout the program, participants will learn about core life-skills like positivity, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, respect, health and fitness. Each participant receives an NSBA T-Shirt.

ZenMaker | Junior Engineers (Gr 2-3)

  • When: Tuesdays 2:50pm – 3:50pm
  • Dates: April 4 – May 2
  • Location: Cleveland classroom

Have you ever wanted to change the world around you? Do you love dreaming up amazing mechanical contraptions to solve everyday problems? Would you like to plan the amazing cities of the future? How about saving the planet from pollution? Are you fascinated by how computers work, from circuit boards to code? These are all examples of the projects that engineers tackle every single day as they work to make our lives better. Join us as we explore what it means to be an engineer, learn what types of engineer you can be, and build fun, creative engineering projects.

ZenMaker | Engineering Civilizations (Gr 2-3)

What yummy side dish is buried in the Great Wall of China? What statue wears a hat made of lightning rods? Where can you see the sun create a serpent shadow slithering down a set of stairs? I wonder? Bring your curious minds, and a taste for history, as we travel around the world and investigate ancient civilizations and the amazing monuments they left behind. Lots of hands-on learning, WOW moments, and – for good measure – world geography.

ZenMaker | Structural Engineering: Bridges (Gr 4-7)

  • When: Thursdays 2:50 – 4:20pm
  • Dates: April 6 – May 5
  • Location: Cleveland classroom

Structural Engineering: Bridges

Every day, hundreds of millions of people use bridges to cross rivers, oceans, canyons and more. There are few engineering projects in the world more important than bridges, and without them life would grind to a halt. In this hands on program, students will learn about the challenges faced by structural engineers as they plan for extreme weather, seismic activity, massive traffic and commercial needs. They’ll also learn about bridges as art and architecture, built to fit a city, region or country’s personality and landscape. Students will devise solutions, build prototypes, test their ideas and develop key engineering and architectural skills as they explore the wide world of bridges.

ZenMaker | Mechatronics: Intro to Microcontrollers (Gr 4-7)

  • When: Thursdays 2:50 – 4:20pm
  • Dates: May 11 – June 8
  • Location: Cleveland classroom
  • Cost: $200 (5 sessions) ** Register before March 11 and receive $25 discount **

What do the robots exploring Mars, heart monitors helping thousands of people live life to the fullest, and the vending machine at your school serving you tasty snacks have in common? Microcontrollers! Microcontrollers are all around us and allow us to write code for the real world. Students will build circuits with sensors to measure the world around them and then write code to act on those inputs, learning foundational skills for everything from robotics to the Internet of Things to tinkering with household appliances and modern cars.

A laptop or Chromebook with a standard USB port is required.

Artmania | Creative Kids Art Club (Gr 1-7)

  • When: Mondays 2:50 – 4:50pm
  • Dates: April 17 – June 19 (NO CLASS May 8, 22)
  • Location: Cleveland Library

Join us in the Cleveland library every Monday for Creative Kids Art Club! Have fun making great art and playing games with your friends. Experiment with different media and techniques without the pressure of messing up. This class is for those kids that like to create art and love games too!

Artmania | 3D Sculpture (Gr 1 - 7)

  • When: Fridays 2:50 – 4:20pm
  • Dates: April 21 – June 16 (No Class June 2)
  • Location: Cleveland Library
  • Cost: $324 +GST (8 sessions)

Let’s study world sculptors and learn how to merge two-dimensional imagery and three-dimensional forms. Students will be invited to transform works on paper, prints, photographs, old paper scrap, mixed media materials, and create fabulous projects into 3D forms! Join us this term and have fun creating in 3 dimensions!

Tigers Eye|Karate for FUN/Self Defence (K - 3)

  • When: Fridays 2:50pm- 3:50pm
  • Dates: April 14 – June 16  
  • Location: Cleveland Small Gym
  • Cost: $200+ Cost of Uniform (10 sessions)

Tiger’s Eye Karate-do Certified black belt instructor will help children and young youth to develop a solid Foundation for self-discipline, focus, responsibility, respect, while increasing their strength, flexibility, coordination, control, balance and having FUN. Students will learn a variety of martial arts moves such as strikes, punches and blocks to the target. Our goal for every student is to make them the best that they can be and reach their full potential by goal setting, taking responsibility, confidence and self-esteem.

Note: New students are required to purchase Tiger’s eye Karate uniform as it is mandatory to all students to attend classes with karate uniform on and it is NOT included in the registration fee. Please contact 604-616-5209 or email tigerseyekaratedo@gmail.com to order one.

Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools | Spring Show: The Lion King (All Grades)

  • When: Monday 2:50 – 5:00pm
  • Dates: April 3 – June 19
  • Location: St. Catherine’s Church in Edgemont
  • Cost: $345 +GST (9 sessions)

Sing Dance Act Shine! At Lights Up After School. Your child can experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our after school programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools staff. These classes are a unique introduction to our weekend musical theatre programs and provide students with an enriching, rewarding, and most of all, fun after school activity right at the bell!

Please Note: Students will be collected from Cleveland Elementary and will take a supervised walk to St. Catherine’s Church in Edgemont where class will take place. No need to pick up your child until 5pm! Performance for parents on last day of classes!
