There are a variety of fantastic programs the CPAC organizes for the Cleveland families, for students and parents, from learning to lunches to lunges. Take a look at some of the things happening at Cleveland, and be sure to check back as there’s always something new in the pipeline.

Sportball Multisport (Grades K-3)

  • Every Wed.  2:50 – 3:50 PM
  • Location: Small Gym
  • Sept. 21 – Dec. 14th (No class Sept 28, Oct 5 and Oct 26.) 
  • Cost: $180 (10 sessions) 

All of our classes are Coached with Purpose using Sportball Methodology. All games, activities and instructions have a purpose and expected outcome. Our goal is to build your child’s confidence, competence, and Physical Literacy. Our programs target three key areas of childhood development, helping them build skills for life!

Children learn the fundamentals of eight different sports in a fun, stress-free, non-competitive setting. Multi-Sport classes keep children moving and engaged and send them home with a new skill from a different sport each class. If you’re looking for a way to give your child a well-rounded sports-base, that promotes their independence and leaves room for specialization later, look no further.

Sportball Indoor Soccer (K - Gr 3)

Sportball Indoor Soccer classes introduce fundamental concepts of gameplay and teaches the basic skills required to hit the field with confidence in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Coaches zero in on skills like throw-ins, dribbling, trapping and passing in fun, exciting, skill-focused play.

Jr. Skills Basketball - Gr. 2-4

  • Thursdays:  2:50 – 3:50 PM
  • Location: Main Gym
  • Sept .15th –  Dec. 17th
  • Cost: $150 (10 weeks. T-shirt included)

The After-School Skills Program helps participants develop the essential skills and concepts required to have a solid foundation in the game of basketball. Sessions will progressively take participants through a series of fun drills and games that work on physical literacy and fundamentals like dribbling, passing and shooting. Throughout the program, participants will learn about core life-skills like positivity, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, respect, health and fitness. Each participant receives an NSBA T-Shirt.

Join us to explore, create and have fun! In this program children have a chance to create eco-friendly 2D and 3D art projects, explore basic design concepts, learn about eco-solutions around the world that help protect our planet and have fun in a positive environment!

This program helps children develop their creative skills, curiosity and critical thinking, understand how 3D objects are designed and made while exploring drawing, composition, collage, and book or structure making. Children also participate in interactive games to learn more about renewable energies and small steps we can take to protect our wonderful planet!

Zen Maker Lab (Grades 2-3)

  • Tuesdays 2:50 – 3:50 pm
  • Starting Sept. 20th or Nov. 8th

Junior Coding: Mission Codebreaker: Sept 20, 27, Oct 4, 11, 18, and 25

Kids love secret codes and puzzles, and we’ll explore all sorts of codes and mysteries that existed before computer programming like morse, nautical flags, trail markers, baseball signals, code wheels, treasure maps, and more.  Using creative storytelling, each week our robots will learn how to crack another mysterious code or puzzle while we learn how to program the robots.

3D Design & Architecture: Nov 8, 15, 22, 29, Dec 6, and 13

In this fun and hands-on program, participants will learn about the history and modern practice of architecture as well as the design process and the rewarding and creative process of turning ideas into reality. Participants will learn to get feedback from stakeholders, brainstorm ideas, sketch and plan, and construct prototype houses, buildings, and other structures out of a variety of materials. There will also be demonstrations of 3D printing and how this technology is transforming many aspects of architecture and model building.

Zen Maker Lab (Grades 4-7)

3D Design & 3D Printing: Creative Design: Sept 22, 29, Oct 6, 13, 20, 27

Explore the artistic side of 3D design. Create your own characters and bring them to life, first in the digital world and then in your hands through the magic of 3D printers. Learn the basics of character design and 3D modeling for printers.

Intro to Electronics: Motors & Moving Electricity: Nov 3, 10, 17, 24, Dec 1, 8, and 15

Motors and moving electricity are changing the way we travel through the world around us! In this course, you’ll learn about electronic circuits, the common components they rely on, and how we design them. Then you’ll focus on designing circuits with motors and build a project that uses motors to move around.

Artmania - Telling Stories with Art (Grades 1-6)

  • Fridays 2:50pm – 3:50pm

Have you ever wondered the meaning behind a painting? Artists sometimes use a range of historical, legendary or mythic genres as well as inventing their own stories to create their art. These lessons will build students’ awareness of how stories can be told visually and how artists use colour, line, gesture, composition, and symbolism to tell a story through drawing and paint.

Artmania - Comics and Game Design (Grades 3-7)

  • Mondays: 2:50pm – 3:50pm
  • Sept. 12th – Dec. 5th ( No Class October 10th)

This class is for students that enjoy comics, drawing and video games. Students will have fun learning comic sketching, storyboarding, drawing, composition and how to make your comics move. These lessons will improve focus, creativity and critical thinking.

Lights Up Musical Theatre (All Grades)

  • Mondays: 2:50pm – 5:00 pm
  • Sept. 19th – Nov. 28th
  • Location: St. Catherines Church in Edgemont (Supervised walk from school to Village)
  • Cost: $385+gst

Sing Dance Act Shine! At Lights Up After School. Your child can experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our afterschool programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools staff. These classes are a unique introduction to our weekend musical theatre programs and provide students with an enriching, rewarding, and most of all, fun afterschool activity right at the bell!

Students will be collected from Cleveland Elementary and will take a supervised walk to St. Catherine’s Church in Edgemont where class will take place. No need to pick up your child until 5pm! Tigers Eye - Karate for FUN/Self Defence (K - Grade 3)

  • Fridays: 2:50pm – 3:50pm
  • Sept. 23rd – Nov. 25th (No Class Sept. 30, Oct. 21 and Nov. 11th)
  • Location: Small Gym
  • Cost: $140+cost of uniform

Tiger’s Eye Karate-do Certified black belt instructor will help children and young youth to develop a solid Foundation for self-discipline, focus, responsibility, respect, while increasing their strength, flexibility, coordination, control, balance and having FUN. Students will learn a variety of martial arts moves such as strikes, punches and blocks to the target. Our goal for every student is to make them the best that they can be and reach their full potential by goal setting, taking responsibility, confidence and self-esteem.

Note: New students are required to purchase Tiger’s eye Karate uniform as it is mandatory to all students to attend classes with karate uniform on and it is NOT included in the registration fee. Please contact 604-616-5209 or email tigerseyekaratedo@gmail.com to order one.

BrainSTEM Learning: Stop Motion Animation (Grades 2-4)

  • Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:30 PM (Supervised break at 2:50 dismissal)
  • Location: Library
  • Sept. 20th – Dec. 13th
  • Cost: $621 + GST

The children are the future of our planet. Children grow up enjoying animated movies and episodic television shows. One way of producing these movies is by using Stop-Motion Animation. In this class, they will use all of his or her creativity to design, develop, and build the different aspects of a short feature film. Combining many branches of the engineering and the artistry of writing, they will face the challenge of writing a script, building their set(s), photographing their characters, editing their photographs into a video, and rendering their completed video.

Stop-Motion Animation Engineering uses science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to produce a short film. SMA engineers work in a number of areas of film production like script writing, set design, film production, post-production, editing and picture lock.

The specialist and managers will face different challenges learning and producing a short film using Stop-motion Animation. They will enjoy discovering and having fun using STEM learning. (Materials, Instruction, and School district library rental included.)

BrainSTEM Learning - AeroSpace Engineering: Aeronautical & Astronautical (Grades 5-7)

  • Thursdays 3:00 – 4:30 PM (Supervised break at 2:50 dismissal)
  • Location: Library
  • Sept. 22nd – Dec. 15th
  • Cost: $672.75 + GST (13 sessions)

Aerospace engineering involves the design and construction of planes and space shuttles. Aeronautical engineering covers craft that stay inside the Earth’s atmosphere (such as commercial planes) while Astronautical engineering covers craft that leave the Earth’s atmosphere (such as space shuttles).

In this program the specialist and managers will learn about the fundamentals of the aeronautical and astronautical industry discovering about aerodynamics, gravity, velocity, forces to lift, drag and thrust objects, aerodynamics like Bernoulli principle. They will use math to improve their results, will discover about the importance of the materials in this engineering branch, and use his or her creativity and curiosity to design, build and test their own flying prototypes while they are having fun. (Materials, Instruction, and School district library rental included.)
