There are a variety of fantastic programs the CPAC organizes for the Cleveland families, for students and parents, from learning to lunches to lunges. Take a look at some of the things happening at Cleveland, and be sure to check back as there’s always something new in the pipeline.

Sportball | Multisport (Grades K-3)

  • When: Thursdays 2:50-3:50
  • Dates: October 19th – December 21st (10 weeks)
  • Location: Cleveland Small Gym
  • Cost: $180 +GST

Sportball’s Multi-Sport classes focus on the basic skills common to all sports, like balance, coordination, and timing in a fun, supportive, non-competitive environment. Each class focuses on one of eight different sports: hockey, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis.

Jr. Skills Basketball - Gr. 2-4

  • When: Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Dates: Oct 3 – Nov 28
  • Location: Cleveland Big Gym
  • Cost: $145 T-Shirt included 

North Shore Basketball Academy Coaches will teach participants skills and concepts required to have a solid foundation in the game of basketball. Sessions will progressively take participants through a series of fun drills and games that work on fundamentals like dribbling, passing and shooting along with daily games and competitions. Throughout the program, participants will learn about core life-skills like positivity, sportsmanship and teamwork. Each participant receives an NSBA T-Shirt.

Basketball | Skills & Games - Gr. 5-7

  • When: Mondays 3:00pm – 4:00 pm
  • Dates: Oct 16 – Dec 18
  • Location: Cleveland Big Gym
  • Cost: $130 + GST

Artmania Movie Making and Documentary For Kids (3-7)

  • When: Mondays 2:50 – 5:00 pm
  • Dates: Oct 16 – Dec 18
  • Location: Cleveland Library
  • Cost: $320 + gst

Are you a young storytellers and aspiring moviemaker? Cleveland students will be guided by film maker Inanna Cusi from their main idea to a finished short, exploring all the stages of production (pre-production, screenwriting, production, and post-production). Students will be encouraged to use their own phones or tablets so they can continue creating after our classes are finished for the holidays! Let your imagination run wild!

Artmania Comics and Claymation 1 -7

  • When: Fridays 2:50 – 4:50pm
  • Dates: Oct 6 – Dec 15
  • Location: Cleveland Library
  • Cost: $360 + gst

This after-school club is all about cartoons animations and claymation too!, How do we make our character appear to move? We design our script create our characters and now we will get to sculpt our characters too! We’ll learn some of the first animation techniques by making using our nifty animation tools to create a movie with your sculptural creations that you can impress your family and friends.

Tigers Eye|Karate for FUN/Self Defence (K - 3)

  • When: Fridays 2:50pm- 3:50pm
  • Dates: Oct 6 to Dec 22 (NO CLASS October.20th Pro-D day)

  • Cost: $220+ Cost of Uniform (11 sessions)

Tiger’s Eye Karate-do Certified black belt instructor will help children and young youth to develop a solid Foundation for self-discipline, focus, responsibility, respect, while increasing their strength, flexibility, coordination, control, balance and having FUN. Students will learn a variety of martial arts moves such as strikes, punches and blocks to the target. Our goal for every student is to make them the best that they can be and reach their full potential by goal setting, taking responsibility, confidence and self-esteem.

Note: New students are required to purchase Tiger’s eye Karate uniform as it is mandatory to all students to attend classes with karate uniform on and it is NOT included in the registration fee. Please contact 604-616-5209 or email tigerseyekaratedo@gmail.com to order one.

BrainSTEM Learning: Fall/Winter-Little Brains-Robotics Engineering (6 weeks) K - 1

  • When: Tuesdays 2:50 – 3:50pm
  • Dates: Oct 3 – 31
  • Location: Cleveland Library
  • Cost: $176.90 + 5% GST

The little brains will discover what is behind a robot, the design possibilities, the materials, mechanical simple machines used to build, what software is, and the programming languages used to create the robot instructions. Under the STEM Education programs, the leadership of our instructors and assistants, students use the LEGO® WeDo 2.0 hardware and GUI programming languages on computers to build their robotic animals, machines, and toys. They will code the algorithms to make their robots function and innovate by improving their programs or physical robot design.

BrainSTEM Learning: Fall/Winter-Specialists/Managers-Robotics Engineering (6 weeks)

  • When: Wed 2:50 – 4:20pm
  • Dates: Oct 4 – Nov 8
  • Location: Cleveland Library
  • Cost: $250+ 5% GST

A robotics engineer is responsible for design, creating, and programming robots and robotic systems to be able to perform duties that humans are either unable or prefer not to complete. Robots help make jobs safer, easier, and more efficient, particularly in the manufacturing industry. The specialist and managers will learn about the basics of robotic engineering, building a robot, design possibilities, material requirements, and programming. They will use the LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 TRACKER robot kit and EV3 Classroom (Scratch like) GUI software. They will face different challenges having fun using STEM education models.

BrainSTEM Learning: Fall/Winter-Little Brains-Software Engineering (6 weeks) K - 1

  • Dates: Nov 7 – Dec 19

Software Engineering: Software engineering uses science, technology, and Math to process raw information and commands into a language that computer and machines use to perform tasks that we want. Software Engineering can lead to the discovery of important new ways to assist humans and processes useful for other engineering disciplines or just to make our lives easier. Students will learn about algorithms, sequencing, looping, switches, and program logic while having fun.y to design, build and test their own flying prototypes while they are having fun.

BrainSTEM Learning: Fall/Winter-Specialists/Managers-Aerospace Astronautical (5 weeks)

  • When: Wed 2:50 – 4:20pm
  • Dates: Nov 15 – Dec 20 (No class Nov 22nd; Gr 6 do not register for Dec 13 if going to Cheakamus
  • Location: Cleveland Library
  • Cost :$250+ GST

· Aerospace engineering involves the design and construction of planes and space shuttles. Aeronautical engineering covers craft that stay inside the Earth’s atmosphere (such as commercial planes) while Astronautical engineering covers craft that leave the Earth’s atmosphere (such as space shuttles). · In this program the specialist and managers will learn about the fundamentals of the aeronautical industry discovering about aerodynamics, gravity, velocity, forces to lift, drag and thrust objects, aerodynamics like Bernoulli principle. They will use math to improve their results, will discover about the importance of the materials in this engineering branch, and use his or her creativity and curiosity to design, build and test their own flying prototypes while they are having fun.

Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools (All Grades)

  • When: Monday 2:50 – 5:00pm
  • Dates: Oct 16 – Dec 18 
  • Location: St. Catherine’s Church in Edgemont
  • Cost: $362.25 +GST 

Experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our afterschool programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools staff. Sing, Dance, Act, Shine! This Spring we will be putting on a version of the musical “The Little Mermaid,” created for our after school students! Performance for parents on last day of classes!

Please Note: Students will be collected from Cleveland Elementary and will take a supervised walk to St. Catherine’s Church in Edgemont where class will take place. No need to pick up your child until 5pm! Performance for parents on last day of classes!
