Cleveland is embarking on an exciting new project, with the joint support of school administration and PAC.
While the date is not yet finalized, plans are in place for a Squamish Nation welcome carving for the school. Squamish Nation elder, storyteller, author, artist, musician and master carver Latash (Maurice Nahanee) will be completing the carving for Cleveland, with the work taking place at the school so that students will have the opportunity to be involved in the project.
Timelines have not yet been finalized, but the general process will involve preparing the cedar for carving, the carving (which could take several months), installation, and finally a formal unveiling ceremony.
We will continue to update you on this project as more information is available.
