The grade 7s would like to challenge our school community to help fill thirty backpacks. We are asking for donations to be sent to the office between February 13-22nd.
Homelessness is an enormous issue for over 700 youth in Vancouver. Here at Cleveland, we have an opportunity to show empathy to these young people by helping alleviate some of the challenges of living on Vancouver’s streets.
Project Backpack is a program that attempts to provide useful items for Vancouver’s homeless youth. By filling backpacks with toiletries, clothing, gift cards, etc. Project Backpack can help these young people have a more successful future.
Here are some suggestions of items that assist with life on the streets:
- toothbrushes
- toothpaste
- hair products
- shaving products
- deodorant
- soap
- feminine hygiene products
- sweatshirts (new)
- jackets (any kind, new)
- scarfs (new)
- underwear (new)
- socks (new)
- tuques (new)
- gloves/mitten (new)
- school/art supplies
- gift gards (please indicate amount, smaller donations are preferable)
- Compass Card (Translink)
